Aim Higher is a national government initiative which aims to raise the participation of young people in Higher education. The role of Aim Higher is to try and motivate pupils to apply for Higher Education by providing students with support and advice.  The programme also aims to help improve attainment of pupils by either subject specific events or by generic events focusing on the study skills needed in Higher Education.

It is hoped that through these interventions students will consider HE as a viable option when they leave school. Halton is part of 'Aim Higher Greater Merseyside' and this involves schools, colleges and Universities in the region. There are a variety of different events occurring throughout the year and these include visits to University, lectures in school and summer schools.

Some projects within Aim Higher involve all pupils ranging from Yr 7-13, but the main focus is on students from Years 9-13
